Butter Scotch Squares ( Blondes)

  • 1 Cup Brown sugar
  • 1 Cup flour
  • 1/4 Cup butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup of pecans or walnuts ( optional)

In a heavy bottom sauce pan, heat butter and brown sugar until melted together.

Remove from heat and immediately add egg and vanilla, beating   on high until well mixed.

Mix in flour and baking powder until smooth. Spoon into a well butter 9 x 9 baking pan.

Bake at 350 until golden. Approx 20 minutes.

Cut into squares and ENJOY!
